Abstract
Radio Conformance Testing (RCT) is a growing field where TTCN-3 is taking an important role. Just as TTCN-3 is more important for such purpose and technologies that are more complex, it is becoming essential to design a solid architecture capable of supporting a broad range of requirements from a wide range of Standards. Thus, the key is providing a flexible architecture which is technology agnostic, minimizes integration efforts and provides high reliability.
Whenever a new technology appears a new Standard is delivered. This means that several testing processes arise; Interoperability Testing to ensure intercommunications, Protocol Conformance Testing where the TTCN-3 is a global standard for testing behaviours in the field of protocol standardisation and finally, quite importantly, Radio Conformance Testing to ensure RF compliance. Surveyor
The development of a Radio Conformance Tester implies a greater effort when it is moulded over a non-solid TTCN-3 architecture. The effort increases substantially when the intention is to reuse and deploy the same architecture over different technologies (such as WiMAX, LTE, etc.) where the systems require additional equipment: Signalling Units, Interferers, Noise and Fading Generators, and also the use of measurement equipments such as Spectrum Analysers and Signal Generators. The use of these instruments is highly dependant on each technology, and consequently sole system architecture may suffer a huge impact to be adapted.
It is under this scenario where we present a solution for a Generalised Architecture for Radio Conformance Testers using TTCN-3, which makes it easy to adapt for any technology, not only saving time and effort but also providing a solid background for delivering reliable conformance solutions.
