Abstract
Nowadays it is well known that object-oriented software development it doesn't eliminate all sources of errors, but inherently bears some new ones, such that testing of object- oriented software in many aspects fundamentally differs from conventional testing. Due to the special characteristics of object-oriented software (e.g. information hiding and strong encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism/late binding, .), some traditional testing techniques seem to be obsolete, where others stay useful as they are or at least can be adapted. Even some new testing techniques were invented to cope with object-oriented software.

Besides these programming peculiarities, object-oriented software development brings with it new modelling and specification concepts and notations for many other artefacts, which implies modifications in the testing approaches based on these artefacts.

This keynote summarizes the state of the art in testing object- oriented software and draws some implications on the usage of TTCN-3 in an OO-testing environment.
